Beautiful, a song that gives me strengh when the movement seems to fall apart

That's a very different song also called Bread and Roses - also beautiful, from America - but this was written by Martin Whelan 10 years ago and he's Irish.

I heard that this song came out of the 1912 strike of the textile mills in NY that exploited the Italian and Portuguese women workers. So maybe Irish, too. But the song is American.

I'm not taking a poke at the poster or the other commentors in this but- dont most idealist socialists themselves seem super capable in the kind of world that socialism creates? if i were a fisherman, i'd hope my backyard was a nice big bay full of fish too. My point being that too many good intellegences have been wasted on the socialist idea of 'what-if?'-. disenfranchisement seems to be the major steam behind recurrent socialist movements. -just chatting-
