Musician/Vocalist Don Lewis sounds like a choir in this stunning acappella arrangement of "Swing Low." It's magic with the aid of the new Roland VP-550.

  • I believe it was a AKG C420. It was a while ago, and I have used a few other mics since then.

Hope this helps. Do you use the Roland VP-550?

Thanks for visiting and your interest.

  • That's so funny... Ha, ha, ha! The sound does make you feel as though you are not alone when performing solo. As a choir director, nothing takes the place of a great choir sound, but the VP-550 is a technological vocal wonder. It helps me want to create more expressive music. Thank you for your humor! I too, love the music of Rev James Cleveland.

  • great song!!!!! keep it real :)

  • Thank you! Happy Holiday Season!! Keep singing!

  • Don Lewis also did the music for another video using the VP-550 called "Hold On for Obama" listed on You Tube. Check it out!

  • That is the best arrangment ive ever heard for this piece!! who is the arranger?? it is moving watching Don Lewis bring to life this beautiful song! not that it was dull to start with. truly spectacular!! thank you.

  • Hello Scottie Tbone,

Thank you for your comment. This arrangement is by the artist in the video, Don Lewis. So glad you enjoyed it

  • Don, when I saw this, I said "hot damn, I want one of those!" A friend of mine had the same response, so we went halvzies on one. It is the most fun I've had with a piece of music technology since I got my first sampler (but a LOT easier to use than that). I recorded a piece of mine that hadn't seen the light of day for more than 25 years (Marvel Not, Joseph) and posted it to YouTube. Thank you SO MUCH for your inspiring demo!

  • Attention e watchout ...Lazy choir members---You might get replaced.....Ha ha ha

    Technology.....WOW!!!

  • Interesting technique!

  • Amazing Performance! This guy can obviously sing which helps! One of my favourite pieces of Music. I had the dosh I'd buy one of these amazing instruments!!

  • This actually sounds kinda creepy!

  • Can you tell me what is the headset mic you're using?

  • Great stuff. You inspired me almst 40 yrs ago when I sat in front of you at Girardelli Square and you played the "Leo" - the clear plastic monster you built. Way ahead of your time and always a great performance. Defined one-man band and predictive of the synth setups to come in a few decades. Most of all, though your integrity and artistry is magnetic and sublimely effective. --Sam

  • This is amazing. Best version I've ever heard of this song. I know it's not a real choir, but man I got chills from this. I'd like to hear this performed by an a cappella group like Naturally 7!

  • you may have missed the point

  • I don't know the background of this music, but I feel there is somthing religious.

This really moves my heart and soul.

Thank you very much for great experience.

  • Marvelous music and a great human being. Don is the best!

I remember him from the old days in San Francisco, and he's just gotten better.
