Actualy he wasn't. Naka was a little bit of the problem by threatening to leave if the STI was allowd to use his NiGHTs engine.

Aah, I read in the Ultimate Guide to Video Games that they had used the engine for about 2 weeks before the plug was pulled.
Seems kinda futile now, Yugi Naka finally quit a few months ago.

According to Chris Senn's web site they never actually used the NiGHTS engine. They were just "inspired" by it. So Yuji Naka only felt plagiarized.

If Yuji Naka really was behind this game getting canned he should be ashamed. It's not like he even produces anything worth a crap. Every Sonic game since 3 has been dire, the 3D Sonic games are a pathetic joke and everything else Sonic Team has done with the exception of PSO has been laughable or instantly forgettable. Naka has succeeded in creating this aura around himself like he is Yu Suzuki or Miyamoto yet he has almost nothing at all to show for it.
