Hi - if it's a level crossing it should just fit right in anywhere - and if it's an x crossing it might only need a short piece of track to make any curves you might have fit snugly. But, basically yes it should all be at the same level. Some straights are banked a little (higher on one side than the other) and if that's the case you might need to raise the crossing a little with some card, I guess. Hopefully you have clips to hold the lengths of track together? That should help keep it tight.

Can you help - my wife got me a fabulous clockwork hornby o gauge set for xmas - im new at this so my first purchase was a o gauge tin hornby crossing set, its lovely, but its raised so im not sure if i need a special piece of track or not? any help would be greatly appreciated. Nice set by the way, hope to get there soon!

nice, the green locamotive looks similar to the flying scotsman i have made by hornby in the same time period, my grampa had tonnes of hornby stuff, the most i've seen in one place, he passed it down to my dad, i love admiring the tin workmanship of them.

Excellent ! I love to smell the clockwork motors of any Hornby, or Bing loco. As you know you need to keep running them from time to time as the spring gets fatigued and can break.
