Based on whats in the OT the Jews only prayed when they were in trouble or when they needed victory ad riches.Between all that they were committing all those damn atrocities. But your local pastor would deny such things I bet.

"The most formidable weapon against errors of every kind is reason. I have never used any other, and I trust I never shall." If only modern politicians spoke that way!

Thomas Paine was together with Jean-Jaques Rousseau and abbé Sieyes one of the main ideologists behind modern democracy.
Unfortunately many of those active in modern democracies have forgotten why we got democracy, free speech and so non in the first place.

I defend the actions of Thomas Paine; simply because he does not represent the whole aspect of modern democracy. He was a classical liberal, who believed in free man, and not a oppresed one - at the hands of the autocratic monarchy. The most rightful, honest American to exist in life. Any American should be roud of this especially as they arethe most hated nation in the world.
Long live Paine
