Just because it is German does not mean that every vowel has two dots above it. This is called "Sapphische Ode", not Öde.

Very fine, as Kipnis is most of the time (to hear something really horrible by him, try to get his recording of "Little Jack Horner"). By the way, call me Beckmesser, but this is called "Ode", not "Öde". Translated into English, Öde means emptyness or boredom - a little unfair, don't you think?

Perhaps I am biased, but some of Brahms' lieder, primarily in the mezzo/bass keys, is among the most beautiful ever written, especially when performed by such a capable and musical singer.

Does anyone have a recording of Kipnis singing Von Ewiger Liebe by Brahms? Accompanied I think by Gerald Moore. It's been many years since I heard it, but as I remember, it was a fine interpretation.

Malheureusement, je n'ai pas d'enregistrements de lui incarnant Boris Godunov. J'ai juste une image de lui costumé mais il se pourrai qu'à l'avenir, je puisse acquérir des enregistrements de cet opéra.
