WHAT ARE THE BASIC AMERICAN VALUES AND BELIEFS?

Is there a universal American Value.
I don't see any one value as representative of Americans..

Obama said that - "that Qaddafi is a monster who has killed Americans and would have massacred thousands of people had no intervention been launched" but Obama also said that..."that we will not directly engage in overthrowing Qaddafi and nation-building in Libya because we tried that in Iraq and the price was too high."

So Obama is saying that American values are related to a cost and that sometimes the cost to uphold the American value is to high..

Finally - "that we are different from other countries in the sense that we do not turn a blind eye to atrocities around the world".

It was the Brits and French who started the push to attack Libya, and Obama was dragged into the war reluctantly, but once there took on the financial burden of a leader. Not Americas choice for wars but Americans will pay the price.
