John Denver and Placido Domingo sing Perhaps Love at the Met Centennial...JD dedicates it to his mother who's in the audience. Apparently on or around Mother's Day...? what year?

Hey,viperjester!(Cool name,BTW.) The recording of this duet was a happy accident. JD had recorded the song for RCA,& they REJECTED the album! They took his producer,Milt Okun away from him,& made him do a country album with Larry Butler. Milt, who was producing Placido's first pop album, asked JD if he could give the song to Placi. Then Milt had the idea of the duet! So I think Milt deserves to get more recognition for saving the rejected song & bringing this divine song to the world.
Hey BW! (intriguing nick ;) Thanks for that awsome piece of info! One would say that it's a very small world, or what are the odds? right?, but it seems that great things always come to be in the strangest of ways, don't they? "perhaps love...perhaps destiny?". Thank God and thank Milt we have this masterpiece for the whole world to rediscover love at its best! And thanks to blsimms for sharing.
The more I listen to music, the more I keep returning to John Denver's songs. He wrote some wonderful, uplifting songs about all the good things in life, with a purity & understanding. Thank you to everyone who has posted his songs on youtube.
First time I ever heard this song I had to pull my car over to the side of the road. No song has ever struck me as beautifully written and performed as this.
