I fell in love with this masterpiece score in '84. Still in love it. There r no words to describe this incredible work of art 2:52

The original title of this movie was Dungeons and Dragons, but due to legal and financial reasons they had to change it Krull. And beast was changed from a dragon to a rubber suited monster as a result.

"Damn it, we paid for this flying rock fortress special effects shot, and we're going to use every freakin' second of it!"

When the death of "The Glaive" is the more evocative than anything the human actors do, there is a problem.

Peter Yates, like Robert Wise for "Star Trek: The Motion Picture," was one of those old-school directors studios rushed in throughout the late 1970s and early 1980s to re-create "Star Wars." The poor old guys had no idea how to do it properly. Just the year before, Yeats was directing Albert Finney and Tom Courtenay in the British character drama "The Dresser" (though, to be fair, he had also directed "Bullitt" in 1968).

Whats really hilarious about it is that the actress who played the princess was syncronised because she had a british accent

Talk about the poor man's Star Wars. And the glaive doesn't seem that impressive for a magical superweapon. I'd rather have the chick's power to shoot flaming napalm from her hand.

@1Buttonmasher I wonder if this is where AD&D got the idea of spelljammer from
-
@chewie211171 Yeah, he was unknown back then though

I guess the fortress can't teleport between worlds, like it does when it's on the surface
The first thing that really grabs you about this film is James Horner's magnificent music. Performed by the London Symphany Orchestra, it is evocative and wonderfully textured. It is one of the most unique film scores in the last 30 years.
