Update:
Got a new power adapter, but had no other problems for a couple of years now. Laptop gets used everyday for 8-16 hours. And still got a year of warranty left. (had 4)

Update: This happened twice, first time dell replaced mobo and it broke within 2 days.. next time the screen, mobo and the little control panel with multimedia keys (how can that affect anything???) were replaced...
Hours of phone calls to dell's "great" support outsourced to india..
Anyway, nobody knew what was wrong with it so they replaced almost everything except hdd and the casing. I'd guess that the fault is down to overheating.. When tech guy comes to fix yours, make sure that he puts some more cooling gel between the heat sink an processor.. It has to be renewed if the heat sink has been taken off.
Glad to have 3yr warranty... would have been screwed otherwise

  • It's the Video Card. I repair computers and have had to fix 3 different Sony Models. The Motherboard must be replaced because the video Card is attached. Sony Has a Recall. Call them and if your models falls under the Recall they will replace and have the Motherboard installed for FREE!!! Does not matter if out of warranty. Just had one replaced on a "Sony All In One" purchased October 2008. Good Luck " The Computer Doctor"

  • @ilyatitov Mine does that, but mine is fine for like a few minutes, and it does that how can I fix it

  • @darklight0x

go to Dell.com support and check the manual in how to disassemble it. Put the mobo in a oven at 200 degrees for 10 minutes. Let it cool and see what happens. Buy those extra fans that go underneath the laptop and don't forget to do the copper mod.

  • its not the video its the lcd or the inverterboard verry easy fix you people must be dropping them or somthig i have a m1530 and it works graet i play games all the time mostly call of duty mw2 or gta iv and work fine and dont over heat try cleaning your heatsinks more often

  • I have the same problem!!! and i have no warranty!!!

  • Duude yes, i have the same problem...you wouldnt happen to know how to fix it would you ha

  • It's from your matrix : )

  • Overall, Dell produces some of the worst laptops in the market.

If you do have this laptop and it has not yet produced such problems. I highly recommend that you stay away from any high intensive graphical programs (i.e. games) to prevent this known issue from occurring.

Also, if you are a semi technical user, it is advised that you apply the copper mod to your laptop (search google for XPS M1330 copper mod).
