I wrote a thesis in college about Nascar and its fuel use, roughly 20m gallons of gas are used each year in the activities surrounding Nascar events, not including the fuel used by spectators. now, multiply that by the about 25 years of racing as its gotten most popular in these past two decades. Does half a billion gallons of gas seem like alot to just drive in circles. And thats just Nascar. all motorsports together have used rougly one and a half times that. 1.3billion gallons in 25 years.
