Though there have been many plausible claims that the CIA conspired to fund the contras with cocaine sales, this has never been proven though there have been many investigations into it. Directors as late as Tenet have forcfully denied it after lengthy investigations. In closing my "progressive generation why" friend, I would have to pose you this question... Which is worse; breaking the Boland Agreement or loosing the cold war? Oh wait we didn't loose the cold war did we? Not yet anyway.

This is if you don't believe Oli North when he took resposibility for diverting the moneys recieved from Israell, to the contras. No one has ever shown Reagan to have had any direct knowledge of this. I was about 12 or 13, and I remember buying a poster of Oliver North that read "Oli for President". It showed him with a huge paper shredder tucked under his arm like a gun. I proudly displayed it on my wall and would have voted for him in an instant if he would have ever run. That was leadership.

I'll point out again that Reagan traded antiquated arms with Iranians took the money from those terrorsits and gave them to one group of rebels (or terrorists if that makes you happy) to take out a more dangerous group of terrorists with bad intent towards our country, like linking up with the Sovietes (terrorists to make me happy) and forming a Cuban-like regime. What Reagan was doing here is what he is most popular for, winning the Cold War.

thought the progressives were the ones who were supposed to be so nuanced along these lines and here you are calling revolutionaries terrorists with no proof other than what every reputable media outlet in the world has called questionable claims by no longer existing human rights groups which had obvious bias at the time. You would almost have to have been there to know something more concrete than everybody else to get away with calling them terrorists and not looking like a left wing tool.

If you think that the contras were the terroists then you are welcome to that opinion. Try to prove that to me though. America's watch was not exactly unbiased and that is usually who's data is held up for that claim. Also why were the contras so popular at home? Why did most Nicaraguans feel that the Sandinistas were really the terrorists? What do you know that I must not know? How do you feel about Che and the Cuban revolution? Was he a terrorist to you? Or was he just a freedom fighter?
