She's not clicking in the wrong places, she's molding his behaviour... She rewards him for each step closer he gets to the behaviour she wants, but she then stops rewarding him for it when he gets to the next closer step, she's making him figure out what she wants, it takes longer, but it is making him learn rather than having her tell him everything.

I highly recommend Kay Laurence's Genabacab game as a precursor to doing the "training game" (as shown here). For one thing, the trainer would learn to click FIRST and offer the treat second. The clicker is pretty meaningless if the intention to give a treat is so clearly telegraphed by that outstretched arm!
