Four short years ago this bright yellow Honda S2000 came into the world as a vehicle destined for torturous road tests at the hands of sports car magazines and their editors. It did its job valiantly, and when finished, American Honda very graciously gave this Honda S2000 to the Butte College Honda PACT Technician Training program to use for racing purposes with their newly formed Motorsports Dynamics class. In its debut season of 2006 SCCA Sports Car racing in the class of T-2, it was out classed in performance by more powerful turbo-charged V-6s. However, the students persevered and finished in second place in the San Francisco Region of SCCA with their driver/instructor David Vodden, CEO of Thunderhill Raceway Park in Willows, California. During the next racing season of 2007, the students then petitioned SCCA to have the car moved to a more competitive class T-3 where they took first place in the San Francisco Region. This qualified the car to run in the National SCCA run-offs at Heartland Park International Raceway in Topeka, Kansas. So the students in the class decided to send five students and two instructors to race their little yellow Honda where the team scored twelfth in the nation (out of fifty cars).
For the 2008 race season the new team goal was to win 1st place in T-3 again and compete in the longest endurance race in North America, the 25 Hours of Thunderhill. We ended up winning 1st place in our class.
The last and sad part about this whole story is the fact that this little Honda S2000s life has come to an end. It had to be crushed directly after the race. Its components were removed and will be used for educational purposes at our automotive program.
Yeah I wonder why they did it too...

They had to do it per their agreement with Honda I'm guessing. I'm willing to bet the car had no VIN# or title and Honda wouldn't want it somehow making it onto the street once the car was retired.

People can retire jerseys without destroying them, they usually put them on display as a piece of history. You guys could have done the same here but chose to ruin a perfectly good car that is no longer made and becomes more rare everyday. I think I speak for everyone when I say you guys are complete idiots.
