i have used both, they both do the same thing, and for people to say that torq is slow, hard to use and serato is better, is cus you got alot of pride and dont wanna admit that you over paid for something that does the same thing as the competion does for a lesser price, and when i bought torq, i had enough money left over to buy my self an axiom controller and an oz. of weed. so beat that bitch!

It really doesn't matter which is best, they are tools to get a job done. I have Torq and am more than happy, in fact its worth twice the price. Sounds and feels great using mp3. Vinyl may be slightly better but the benefits of mp3 outweight that considerably and I cannot tell the difference and doubt anyone else could in a mix. To be honest I was doing this 20 yrs ago and we could only have dreamt about this type of technolgy back then so just enjoy what is available as its never been better.

some of the effects in serato suck. the flanger and phaser sound gosh awful.

Also built in effects and snapshots and midi control add alot to my sets. For the price i couldn't be happier. Never used Serato and would like to try it but I know people that use Serato, Traktor, Mixvibes??, and some program that comes with macbooks and it's all the same to me. If you like it rock it.

I use torq and have been for about 2 years now. I have had very few problems. I had the first version / release then recently upgraded to 1.5.2 and it's much better due to having even more options. I had torq crash on me once. I'm not sure it the program or my laptop. I was analyzing a cd in my ROM drive while running torq and everything in torq shut down. Had to restart my whole computer. Another time i lost control of my midi controller presets for some reason. Excellent product though.

Serato is over priced when it first came out the price was acceptable but with the rise in technology there is no reason for it to be so costly with the competition does the same for way cheaper i just bought mine off amazon for $112 box and time code records im lovin it. Where i come from there is no record store growing up i had to buy everything online. Now I just hook up the box and go.

i'ma tell you something about dj software. Serato is good but way over priced, the best of the best for digital vinyl systems is traktor scratch pro. Serato is what comes standard in clubs but torq does basically everything both of these do its just cheaper. If you want the best get traktor scratch pro. I personally dont like serato but it works but it is over priced. If you are on a budget and need a good solid software go with torq

One other thing, if you listen to the first 2 mins of this video, you'll notice a slight humming in the background, I had exactly the same thing when recording a set whilst using Torq.... With exactly the same recording setup and using Serato, there is no humming noise in the background, strange hey?
The recording setup was to have the booth output on my mixer (DJM-909) go to the line-in of my desktop computer running Sony SoundForge 8 for recording whilst running Torq on my macbook as normal.

@8beyonder8 Yeah it is more solid, first hand experince... I used to think they are the same, battled on with using Torq for 2 years, its rubbish, useless customer support, useless support for new hardware, doesn't integrate very well with re-wire. Pretty much I didn't realise just how bad it was until I properlly started using Serato, and £500 isn't exactly that much more compared with £200....
Wow this video is almost 3 years old good times wit dj esc RRC

TORQ WORKS PERFECT FOR ME. ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS LEARN HOW TO USE IT AND REMEMBER ALL YOUR SETTINGS.
