This is such a lovely, poignant song--I'm not sure if many people know of it, but it's one of the best pop songs ever recorded, IMO.

People rave about the movie, but the soundtrack to Midnight Cowboy was just incredible. Was there ever a more haunting melody than the Theme to Midnight Cowboy.

If you like "Midnight Cowboy" be sure to see the 1967 film directed by John Schlesinger, "Far From the Madding Crowd", starring Julie Christie, and based on Thomas Hardy's novel. Amazing Victorian period, and sadly neglected. Great, great film, and finally released on DVD in the U.S. this year.

Midnight Cowboy (1969). It's also amongst my all-time favourite films as well. Powerfully moving, and very evocative of a time and place.
