This game was released in 1998 in Japan only on the original Playstation by Konami, and made its debut alongside the excellent "Goemon's Great Adventure" for the Nintendo 64, which was also released in the United States (one of only four Goemon titles to get that honor). Unfortunately, this game is supposedly not nearly as excellent as Goemon's Great Adventure, or anything resembling a good Goemon game, nor was the music quite up to par with the rest of the series. However, the Impact giant robot battles feature both interesting gameplay AND excellent music.

This track is played during Impact Battles, and is one of four such themes, though I don't know which one this is in particular. Unlike most games in the series, this game features more than one kind of Impact, usually only having an Impact based on Goemon, and oddly enough Goemon's Great Adventure (released around the same time) features an Omitsu Impact (or Ms. Impact). These Imacts are actually based on the other regularly playable characters in the Goemon series, Ebisumaru, Sasuke, and Yae, but since it supposedly comes first, I would guess that this is the song you hear while playing as Sasuke Impact. Its hard to choose a favorite among these, and it doesn't have that abrupt cutoff like the first track, so it may well be this one.

After the N64 games, the quality does tend to be on the lower end of the spectrum, but I can personally vouch for the DS Goemon game being pretty good. You can import a copy and play it on a north american ds, but you'll probably need a guide here and there.

  • ive heard that the newer ones sucked. i havent tried the mystical ninja games as old as the snes ones.

They are the first SNES Goemon, Mystical Ninja (also known as Ganbare Goemon: Yukihime Kyuushutsu Emaki), and the Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon on Gameboy (also known as Ganbare Goemon: Kurofune Tou No Nazo). The former is a personal favorite of mine, and an agreed upon classic not just in the series but on the SNES in general. The latter (I have not played it mind you) is pretty much viewed as one of the worst game in the series.

  • What were the other two games that were released in america besides the ones on N64?
