  • very sad :(

  • NICE FILM ....... THANK FOR SHARING

  • people always conjure up Welles as the greatest actor director. He wasn't. De Sica not only was far far far the better actor, but overall his films stack up far better than Welles, and i suspect Welles would have been the first to nod a yes, yep, De Sica just flat outran me. The only other one in their league is Huston, though even he I would not quite jput in De Sicas actor director niche: great in Chinatown and his movie ouvre is as good, but De Sica, for me still carries the day even there

  • Marocchinate (Italian: plural of marocchinata, roughly translatable as "Moroccans' deeds") is a term applied to the mass rape and killings committed during World War II after the Battle of Monte Cassino in Italy by Goumiers, Moroccan colonial troops of the French Expeditionary Corps (CEF[1]), commanded by General Alphonse Juin.

  • It's about allied troops violating Italian women, after they defeated German troops (the allies, not the women, of course). The whole is known as "Marrochinate". In Wikipedia: "Marocchinate is a term applied to the mass rape and killings committed during World War II after the Battle of Monte Cassino in Italy by Goumiers, Moroccan colonial troops of the French Expeditionary Corps (CEF[1]), commanded by General Alphonse Juin."

  • @shinznay

The story centers on Cesira (Loren), a widowed Roman shopkeeper, and Rosetta (Brown), during World War II. To escape the Allied bombing of Rome, Cesira and her daughter flee southern Lazio for her native Ciociaria, a rural, mountainous province of central Italy.

  • Do you have the Italian version with English subtitles? I feel like a lot is lost in translation with this version.
