Making the Edinboro University Fighting Scot Statue

Dedicated to all Edinboro University students -- past, present and future -- the Fighting Scot Plaza and Statue not only honors Edinboro's rich and storied Scottish history, but creates a new tradition for generations of students yet to come.

The twelve-and-a-half-ton, 12-feet high, cast-bronze statue, created by alumnus Jim Prokell as a historically accurate representation from the Rob Roy period of Scottish history, was crafted at Meadville, Pennsylvania's U.S. Bronze Foundry and Machine, Inc.

From conception to completion, the project was 13 years in the making, becoming a reality in September 2010 because of the generosity of the members of Edinboro University Alumni Association. It was the Association, through fundraising events over the years, that raised an astounding $606,000 for the Fighting Scot Statue project -- all funds coming entirely from private donations.

Already, the magnificent Fighting Scot Statue has become an iconic representation of the University's cherished mascot.

The Fighting Scot Statue Plaza has brought the statue to life in a meaningful way, creating an environment for members of the Edinboro University community conducive for meeting, socializing, studying, taking photographs and making last memories.

I love this video! Edinboro University now has a focal point, a rallying point and a source of pride in this magnificent statue!! As an alumnus of Edinboro, I am proud of the Edinboro Community in accomplishing this history-making endeavor.
