A nice feature that is new to Final Cut Pro X is a series of graphics that allow you to transition from one clip to another in some really neat ways.
To add an Effects Transition, you first need to click on the button almost to the far right in the bar that separates the Viewer from the Timeline. The button is located just to the left of the Info button and will reveal the Themes browser.
You can find all kinds of different transitions and even preview them to see how they look before adding them to your Timeline. This applies to titles, title cards, graphics and transitions.
To add a transition, click and drag it to where you would like it placed and drop it on the Timeline.
Drop it in between two video clips to have Final Cut Pro X automatically create the transitioning effect from one clip to the next.
Effects Transitions add a lot of customization and personalization to your project without having to do a lot of hard work. If you want to take these customizations even further, you can open these transitions in Motion, a motion graphics program for Final Cut Pro, which can be purchased in Apple's App Store.
Keep in mind, though, that only the latest version of Motion will work with Final Cut Pro X. Any older version of the motion graphics program will not work this current Final Cut Pro version.

Well done...very good tutorial! You don't happen to know how to automatically add transitions between multiple clips, do you? Been looking everywhere for an easy way to do that. iMovie did it well and very easily...but then again, that's what it was designed to do...love the power of FCPX, but those things are left out :-)
