Joseph Schmidt Sings Live in Holland

The "pocket" tenor Joseph Schmidt sings at Vara Radio festival in the Netherlands 1936. The leaves podium to bow to audience and shake hands with the conductor. Schmidt stood only 1.5 metres but in other ways was big - wonderful voice and kind gentle personality.

Fortis, I've viewed four other videos of Joseph Schmidt on YouTube, and on all of them you've posted the same comment. May I ask why? What point do you try to make? You've generalized grossly and offended Muslims and Jews--by implying that Europe had a "purpose" in assassinating them--alike. What a great voice , lost to the world at 38 years of age. How sad that people cannot get along together. recordings of him keep his memory , and world class voice alive . Thank goodness.

@Uruguruh He died in Switzerland, after fleeing into that country from France. Vichy France evicted all Jews without French nationality to the German authorities. Jews with French or neutral nationality were not deported. But Joseph Schmidt had lost citizenship and was "stateless".

Just for your interest, according to Rochus Misch, "Ich singe Dir ein Liebeslied" sung by Joseph Schmidt (a Jew indeed), was a favourite track of Hitler, "the Chief" as Misch calls him. Misch is still alive.
