  • did you keep this pace going for 13hrs? Or did you find times when you relaxed more, slowed it down a tad etc?

  • @selbysworld Thanks Selbysworld - yes, I held this pace of 76 to 80spm the whole way across to France and felt great (apart from the conditions of course which were ugly!). Paul.

  • i swam long distance in lake michigan for 36 years now including the last three years all through the winter with a 3mm wet suit. the lake is rough like this 25% or more at the oak st beach north wall and some times worse but i still enjoy swimming there instead of a boring pool. you can look up our photos and video clips at openwaterchicago. i really enjoy the winter one mile swims.

  • How many Km's did you swim a week and for how long till you could keep that pace for so long? What did you think about for so long? Lastly, how often did you stop to eat and drink?

    Well done!

  • I cud never do this, despite being a good swimmer. Firstly, the salt is too much, and the pressure of the deep waters, sharks, and of course, the cold, and violent wave motions! Scary!

  • Great effort, congratulations. You really like swimming.

  • Congratulations Paul.

Did you swallow any water accidentally on any occasion due to crashing waves?

  • great effort and success

  • Unbelievably impressive. Well done.

  • Wow! Nice rhythm!

  • Congratulations, Paul, on this fine achievement.
