Lesson 12 from Juan Martins el arte flamenco de la guitarra
our first look at bulerias! plus! a new right hand technique for us to try - alzapua, which, when we get up to speed, will allow us to create all kinds of crazy flamenco sounds!!
a short little solo, but worth a look at to get a feel for the compas
good luck everyone!

Also!! an extra lesson video from my friend elmaroquinole, for the alzapua. check it out, he is amazing! see the video replies :-)

  • Your amazing progress and humour are great motivators. Keep on teaching!!!!

OLE, senor Derek Del Loco Accento!!!

P.S. I might be mixing Italian and Spanish, sorry, too lazy to verify.

  • gracias mi amigo!

(y si, mi accento es muy loco!

    todos no entienden :-P )

  • my dear friend guitarrist i just think you have to practice your self a little more,i´ve been playing flamenco guitar for years and i think you are not in the position to teach, please dont take it bad is just what i think, keep playing my friend..and dont take it bad..my comment.

  • juan martin is the teacher, not me!

i just share what i learn!

check my video, seguiriyas con compas, and then check my older seguiriyas videos, you will see i have improved!

my subscribers have improved too, and i get a lot of positive feedback from them!

of course i always look up to a better guitarist, i know i'm not all that good :-P

in fact my friend elmaroquinole has sent a video reply to this lesson, demonstrating beautifully the alzapua technique! feel free to show us all how its done!

  • de nada para eso estamos amigo ;) , ai un canal muy bueno josemartinezcaro , pasate aprenderas mucho ;) saludos.

  • I also agree, csybu. I remember hearing you long ago. You have grown much since then. We all have to do it. My first teacher, Jaime Toro, had arthritis in his hands. He was not fast, but every cantaor and bailador in London wanted him to play for them. What he could do, he did very well. That was, to fit it all together to make real Flamenco. When one of your falsetas sends a shiver down your spine and sets off fireworks somewhere in your spirit, you are a real flamenco player. Suerte!!.

  • agree!

  • Don't be put off, I have been playing Flamenco 40 years and I can STILL learn from my students. It's not about copying, but a kind of growth. You are growing. Suerte!
