Oil is decoupled from electricity. $100 oil has no bearing on whether geothermal energy is cost-effective or not.

Wind and solar PV is most definetly a bubble. It's completely useless without an ample supply of natural gas(Picken's knows this, he also wants to acquire eminent domain for his water pipeline; that's why he's pushing wind).
Solar thermal is very mature technology. It has barely evolved since the late 19th/early 20th century, the DoE and numerous private ventures has shown it uncompetitive with anything but PV.
Deep hot rock geothermal could be useful, it's just to early to tell.

Infrastructure is about more than roads and bridges, folks. iTuplip has a good point. Lots of big money is now going into photovoltaics, wind turbines and fusion. Cost-effective electric vehicles are now hitting showrooms floors all over the world, as well. There's still a lot of good investments to make, but traditional ideas of investing are going to hurt the small investor and the 'day-trader.' Best short to mid-term investment today: Silver.

iTulip, this just hit the news. 4/6/08
WASH. - Democratic lawmakers said Sunday that Congress should pass a second economic aid plan that would focus on helping homeowners avoid foreclosure and increasing spending on bridges, roads and transit systems.
"Our economy will never grow in the 21st century unless we expand and repair the deteriorating infrastructure needs of our country," said Sen. Christopher Dodd, chairman of the Senate Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs Committee.
