Kay and I drove the van to Maine and back Oct 2009 to see the fall colors. Kay planned the stops to see peak colors all along the way. We left home on Oct 7 and returned home Oct 22, after logging 4468 miles in the old van.
We used my laptop with an internet connection and GPS to plan the stops and find our way.
We stopped at Lake Erie, spent a few days in the New York Adirondacks, took scenic routes through Vermont and New Hampshire and them to Maine. We again took the scenic route to Moose River, Maine, a small town on the Canadian boarder. From Moose River we worked our way to Acadia National Park where we spent most of 4 days, our longest stop, before moving south down the Maine coast. We started the loop home from Maine by heading to Niagara Falls. At Niagara Falls we stayed on the Canadian side in a hotel overlooking the Canadian Falls. From there we traveled across Canada to reenter the US at Detroit. We stopped for a hike along Lake Michigan at the Indiana Dunes State Park. Our next stop was Iowa City to visit our son Chad who is there finishing his PhD dissertation in English. We met Chads girlfriend, Rengin, a very nice girl from Turkey who is working on her PhD in sociology.
The photos were taken with a Nikon D700. Many of the images in the video slideshow were formed by merging several shots in to a panorama or larger image. The video slideshow allows the large high resolution images to be viewed on a video monitor with panning and zooming.
