This is going to be a real problem when we see that no one is going to want to go through Medical school and then practice within this system. Doctor will be getting out of school with huge student loans and huge debt and will live life less comfortably than a union employee cleaning toilets at a local school. I am not saying there is anything wrong with being a janitor, I just think a Doctor is a more skilled profession and should be compensated as such and government should not get in the way

The worst part about it is it wasn't always like that. There were a lot of charity run hospitals. Example: the Shiner's hospital were they treat child burn victims takes care of kids who families can not pay for treatment. Doctors use to make a house call and getting sick was not a reason to take out a loan. Now there are a lot of reasons for the fast increase but you can't deny that because we don't pay out pay pocket we are not motivated to shop around or ask why so expensive for one aspirin?

Yes that is unfortunate fact of life. Many people become doctor because they want to help people, but even more do it for financial reasons. If we start making it hard to earn a high salary as a Doctor we will start seeing less highly intelligent individuals go into that field. Who want to go through 8 years of college be deep in debt with 500K & up student loans to make less than mid level Manager in most companies? Why go through it, Doctors will be broke. The loans will be to high to pay back

@frankiegmh That doesn't sound too good. So the people who own hospitals are more interested in profits than the general health of people?
-
@th3gtr No, heathcare is a business because the Hospitals are privately owned. In your example of schools, the town or state government pay to build the school and pay all the teachers and administrators. In healthcare the Hospital are privately owned and the hospitals pay the employees not the government. That makes heathcare a business.

who created those debts 3 trillions (1980-1992) and 4 trillions (2000-2008)? the republicans talk nonsense...where were they when they took charge of congress and presidency during those years... hypocrite....
I hear what Democrats are fighting for in this bill. I like some of it and I don't care for some of it.
What I cannot seem to find is what Republicans want in a healthcare bill other than tort reform.
Why can't one person say "you have a few ideas that we like A, B, and C. we do not like E, and F and we would also like G and H, and if you do that we can pass a bill together."
"Let's scrap this 2,700 page bill and go step by step" is politics not leadership and now we all pay the price.

Didn't Obama run on this? If the majority of Americans don't want socialized medicine why did they vote for him?
