The bailout would not work anyway. The problem is with federal banking policy. Banks are mandated by the government to expand sub-prime lending, and as a result, people with bad credit are able to take out money they are unable to pay back.

The current bill proposes throwing money at the problem and hoping it goes away. What we need is a policy reform.
