George Lewis playing here with a fine group at Preservation Hall. I hope the commentary doesn't mar your enjoyment too much, there is precious little footage available of these players. Date anyone?

  • Nothing has changes, commentators (some of them) need to take the cottons out of their ears and stick them in their mouth, and simply shut up.

  • Benny Goodman never heard of George Lewis who did not come to the jazz world's attention until the 1940s when he appeared in New York with Bunk Johnnson's band! Chris Strachwitz Oh yes - how I wish the damn commentator could be cut out!!

  • @oldtimejazzfan klezmer?

  • @nicktbiz Benny's main influence was Jimmie Noone.

  • @klikonojazz NARVIN !

  • This is so funny, George Lewis a forerunner of Benny Goodman indeed. I understand the George admired Benny, but I think Benny was influenced by Johnny Dodds and George is black New orleans and Benny was white Chicago. i wish I could have cut the comentary and just played the music

  • bonne musique!! commentaires sans interet ..video interessante car tres rare.

  • Bob, you don't understand this genre. Modern jazz maybe. New Orelans traditional jazz, no.

  • @klikonojazz and Narwin Kimball bj

  • The music is lovely, but could he just possibly shut up for more than a chorus and a half????
