  • My next question is: how will ordinary Chinese people respond the the economic collapse of the West? Will they be prepared for the new situation in which they find themselves - at the helm, in the driving seat of the world economy? Which direction will they want to go in? If Western economies fail, they will not have the purchasing power to keep the Chinese in employment.

  • Maybe China is postponing their intent to flatten America financially in order to acquire as much assets as possible in order to justify a future demand to make the RMB the new reserve currency. If denied their requests, they could withhold exports to the west without too much pain.

  • Thank you for this. I am a keen student of China and the Chinese economy and II have been aware of the problem of the real estate bubble for some time and its likely outcome. Personally I think the West is in a worse position because we prefer to live in delusion. However, I am more convinced that theseismic shift of the geopolitcal tectonic plates will happen in the next few years (if not next year) and the steady emergence of China/India as the preeminent global super-powers.
