The NEX-FS100 is a new E-mount professional camcorder equipped with a Super 35mm CMOS sensor specifically designed for shooting motion pictures ideal for commercials and music videos, as well as action scenes in budget drama for example. The large-format sensor's high sensitivity enables it to produce footage with shallow depth of field similar to that of a film camera.

Image Stabilisation? No thanks, it always distorts the sun flares and vignetting gets worse.

@arielwollinger AVCHD is not an editable codec. AVCHD (which we all hate) is a "finishing" codec which is the nickname for "H264"(apple). To me, HDV is better although is 1440 X 1080, requires NO re-encoding on Sony Vegas.

Is it my computer or there are some compression problems in the video?

rich bwoy. get a canon 7d you'll do just fine. You can't have everything even on 5dm2.your audience is the public . not other camera or dlsr owners. trust me all those microscopic differences you notice . 99% of people who are going to be looking at your stuff won't notice it. We all need to focus on lighting and story telling.I look at expensive cameras like I am looking an expensive car .

@AdmirSarajevo Such hyperbole. How difficult is it to throw a Variable ND Fader filter on a lens? Are people really that lazy? One ND filter and you have multiple ND options. If you need a mattebox with DSLR you need it with any camera. Why single out DSLRs? Mattboxes do the same thing on any camera. Use a lens hood if you don't want to use a mattebox. I use a mattebox, because it looks professional and works. The Sony was hardly "Ruined". Its amazing low light is enough to make it special.

BTW, low light quality depends also on how fast your lenses are. If you buy an FS100 with its slower zoom lens and can't afford extra fast lenses (F1.4-F2.8) then the 5D Mark II paired with super fast lenses will probably come out on top in low light. For film making the Sony is all around superior. You get XLR inputs, ability to record longer, much less aliasing and moire....and higher resolved resolution with video. What is your budget for the camera and lenses?

@Larrye123 The 5D Mark II is great in low light, but the Nex-FS100 is simply on another level in low light. It's more comparable to the Nikon D3S for low light sensitivity only with much better video quality. The Sony is a superior film making camera. I recommend pairing it with some good affordable fast lenses designed for video: Look up the Rokinon/Samyang lenses. 14mm F2.8, 24mm F1.4 (coming soon), 35mm F1.4 and 85mm F1.4 (great video lenses at better than usual prices).
