CONTAINS SPOILERS FOR DEATHLY HALLOWS!
At Prophecy 2007, there was a Talent Show. While the votes were being tabulated, Steve VanderArk started discussing fandom, and it was really interesting to hear what he had to say.

Wow, what a total douche. Did he really just imply that JO doesn't know her own damn creation and that the fans know it better than she does?! What kind of asshattery is this?

"Jo has quit; she is done... the fans are taking over now!"
Wow. Just wow.
I hope Jo & the WB crush this tool.

Steve Vander Ark is an idiot.
It is not time for the fans to take over, Harry Potter still belongs to to Jo whether he thinks so or not. It's her world, we just plays in it. She calls the shots, not Steve Vander Ark.
If you go against Jo, you can't be a true Harry Potter fan!

"I like what He did with the character of Jesus, but *I* believe that Jesus didn't really die but escaped to give birth to Judas's love-child. And then they lived happily ever after far away from everyone who said it was wrong. God's version of how it all ended is simply ridiculous! He's completely wrong! Jesus-Judas OTP!"

many harry potter fans are active in the fold chirstians. of course, they view harry potter as fiction so it has no effect on their faith.
but that is a whole other issue.
if I was jk rowling, I would have denounced anyone who tries to wrest her intellectual property.
she so far has taken the high ground by not taking pot shots, unlike steve and his publishers.

Expellipompousassus! Honestly - he's so full of himself. I'm not a fan of JKR as a person, but she's right to sue him.

Fuck, it's like some church revival where the parishioners have rejected God.

well,he's right, the fandom stays alive through the fans:fanfics,fanat,podcasts,wrock,conventions...
We all know that.I dont think he meant:"I'll take over writing HP books, now Jo's done." Jo's right in protecting her work, but this thing is out of context! In essence he is right and every single fan would agree,if it wasnt for the lawsuit(look at the early comments)
Publishing the Lexicon is wrong and could get the fandom in trouble. He took it too far,but this has nothing to do with it whatsoever

This comment has received too many negative votes show
Oh, get over it. The fan-fiction types have been doing and saying stuff like that for years. Some of them even claim she "can't write" at all because they don't like the way the stories have gone.
