Paarthiv Pooja at the Jageshwar Temple. This was recorded on the first day of Paarthiv Pooja (sometimes called Paarthi Pooja) in the month of Sawan in 2009. Jageshwar temple is an Archeological Survey of India (ASI) designated heritage site. Close by is another equally impressive temple called Vridha (old) Jageshwar but the Jageshwar temple has more "manyata" i.e. people believe in it more.
There is a legend that on the days when a body is not cremated on the ghats of the nearby river, the tops of the two large deodar (ceder) trees (that you see at about the 1 min 42 second mark on this video) start hitting against each other and that a blanket must be burnt as an offering to keep this from happening.
