Uninsured Man Robs Bank For $1 To Be Able To Get Healthcare In Prison

GASTON, N.C -- A North Carolina man suffering from an undiagnosed growth on his chest and two ruptured disks walked into an RBC bank and handed a note to a teller demanding $1. He then sat by the door and waited for police to arrive.

Richard James Verone says he needs medical attention and hoped that by getting arrested, he would have access to health care in prison.

"I'm sort of a logical person and that was my logic, what I came up with," Verone told WCNC. "If it is called manipulation, then out of necessity because I need medical care, then I guess I am manipulating the courts to get medical care."

It's a sad turn of events when we give billions of dollars to hundreds of countries who hate us, while our own down-on-their-luck American citizens must resort to this method to obtain health care. Additionally, all the illegals scrambling across our borders receive millions in benefits while the likes of Mr. Verone and our elderly population struggle for survival. Withdraw foreign aid to our enemies; provide care for our own, and regain the support, trust, and loyalty of the American people.

You can tell this is an educated, well mannered, good man. His reason for being in jail is very genuine, and if the doctor really thinks that he's "manipulating the system" by going to jail so that he may actually get the thing that we should all have for free, which is healthcare,

I commend this guy. There are people who go to the hospital emergency rooms and then stick the bill to the hospital. The hospital still has to pay the doctors and nurses for their service and the medical supplies. By going to jail, the hospital still gets paid. It is a shame that America does not provide more the less fortunate in this country. It is actually noble of him to do it this way instead of simply not paying the hospital. It is really a shame that he had to go to jail for healthcare.

I am NOT surprised!!! I mentioned this as an option when I was on the early show last year. People e-mail my website willmarryforhealthinsurance everyday saying they will do this. Most say it needs to be a post office so it will be a federal crime and wont get out too quickly

@SgtShnackendale The sad part is that in NC inmates have minimal healthcare (thanks to the closing of numerous prisons, overcrowding, and a shortage of doctors) AND they have to pay for it themselves. I'm not saying criminals should get freebies...just that they don't have it quite as easy as a lot of people have been led to believe.

@y0cables are u fucking kidding me? illegals take advantage of all the social programs that are provided. For example, Anchor Babies: school, food stamps, Medicaid, free & reduce lunch, free school lunches, treatment for the uninsured, WIC, federal prison(healthcare), medicare, transportation, the list goes on. How am i ignorant when all I am trying to do is protect my country from anti-American foreign criminals!!!!!
