I don't think you fully understand that the work really is done by Elfman. It's like saying he doesn't do any work because he doesn't play the instruments. His is the more creative process and his partnership with Steve Bartek is a very fruitful one. There is nothing bad about it.
Also, scores are to be lsitened to, not looked at ;) .

Steve Bartek does not arrange Elfman's music. Every note is his own, unless otherwise stated.

Danny elfman's brainchild, but the WORK of Steve Bartek. Got it! :)
Danny elfman dropped out of highschool, joined the circus, and never had any formal music training.
It's never too late! In my honest opinion, Danny Elfman has enough money to go to Juliard! He should be able to score for himself, and arrange and orchestrate and do ALL the hard work, for himself.
I can't look at a danny elfman soundtrack the same way now...
