Jindos are really smart. They are only loyal to their real owners. Although this could make them seem aggressive to other people, if the Jindo gets to know the relationship between its owner and the other people, then, the Jindo would behave accordingly. :) But, they can be aggressive to strangers who don't show that they have a good relationship with their owners.

@LaineClarkJr My jindo was the same way. I was totally unable to control his aggression. He was a one person dog and would bite anyone he could. He would be alright if I was around, but I just couldn't be there 24 hours a day. Everyone was the enemy except me or my daughter. He could not be won over by anything and had no affection for people. He was so beautiful and never growled or barked so folks never saw it coming. This video is hard to watch.

@LaineClarkJr that definitely sounds like a Jindo! Jumping up to the highest view point guarding his family! I taught Kae "chingu" as a safe word for her to claim down so that when I said it, she wouldn't be as aggressive to visitors.

@soohoschunsa thanks, :) a bond has developed between us, where he will not leave my side, and when someone touches me, he will jump up and try to bite them! I dont know how to make him stop...but it is a nice gesture...when he goes outside he will stand on our picnic bench and watch everything lol

@kittixangel my female jindo warmed up to my mother in about 10 minutes. i think she could discern the smell between us that she was family even though i hadnt lived at my mother's house for a couple of years and don't use the same detergent as her. a jindo kae's sense of family is very strong and my jindos love my husband and i the same but do listen to me more. ive been a jindo owner for 4 years now. i think a jindo would have no problem adjusting to a new baby.

@LaineClarkJr its really great you rescued him!

@driftingfocus My family have always raised jindos outside like this, of course they were always fed appropriately and such. I don't see any major signs of neglection, yes they definitely should have more water, but they seem pretty healthy. If i had a jindo i personally wouldn't raise it like that, but thats how some Koreans have been raising them, and it hasn't been much of an issue.

I know Jindos bond really well to the owners they grow up with but does anyone know how they'd adapt to a new baby if they didn't grow up with kids?
i live in the us in the state of maryland. and i had to pass by a house everyday to go to school, and i saw a male korean jindo. he was tied to a pole in the ground. and once i even saw his owner beat him because he pooped. well i saw his health diminish, so i took him. now he lives with my family and i have changed him with love and care into a family dog. but he only listens to me. no one else. and anyone outside the family is a predator to him. he is VERY protective. i named him bandit. :)

@driftingfocus But not all Koreans abuse and neglect Jindos (and other dogs). I wish fellow Koreans would better treat their Jindos, instead of pampering their stupid toy dogs. I'm Korean, and our Jindos and dogs (big dogs) have the most amazing life-- haha it makes me kind of jealous of them. And quite honestly, it isn't that hard to train and socialize your dog---Jindos are not mean and aggressive dogs. Everyone falls in love with my Jindo boy because he's so well-behaved and good looking. :)
