Robert Udowitz is the principal (along with Steven Drake) of the newly formed public relations search firm, RFP Associates, Inc. http://www.rfpassociates.net
Robert notes that the RFP (Request for Proposal) process can be unnecessarily problematic for both issuing organizations and applying public relations agencies.
On the issuing side, organizations want the process to be open and fair. But they are concerned about not receiving the services as described. Poorly written RFPs with unclear budgets can also undermine the project.
Agencies often struggle with meeting the exhaustive requirements of RFPs, and sometimes feel like an agency has already been selected.
His company, RFP Associates, works with companies and organizations to write requests for proposals that obtain the best responses from the most qualified agencies.
In this video (produced by Mary Fletcher Jones for Conversations in Public Relations), Robert identifies some of the common problems that can challenge the RFP process, and provides suggestions for improvements.
