My favorite scene(the killing in the restaurant that is) . The flames catching these two men on fire are a metaphor showing the freeman going deeper and deeper in hell after each stab of the knife.
Also the background music is great classic called Nabucco, "chorus of the Hebrew slaves"(by Verdi) an opera in four acts expressing the plight of the Jews as they are assaulted, conquered, and subsequently exiled from their homeland by the Babylonian King Nabucco. Brilliant scene!
