WPVI synch w/ various SAM packages

WPVI with several classic Stephen Arnold packages. In order:

1. Stravinsky (Stephen Arnold Music)

It's a good try. Really it is. But we're talking about a station that tried to replace MCTYW with an orchestral version of the same song, and failed. It's going to happen, but the News Director that does it better have some major brass...or live in a different city.

I still like MCTYW...and only WPVI can make the theme seem less dated.

I'm not sure what WPVI would have been like if they had used different theme music... like Gari's "Hello News" or "Great News"... and several other themes. I take it that WPVI and its viewers will want MCTYW to stay for many more years to come.

@kcmetro1 They failed with the orchestral version IIRC because they received too many complaints. Yea, Philadelphians will tolerate the unions, mafia & corruption ruining their city, but don't change the channel 6 theme. Hey Philly, :-P

Not a bad effort, but I don't think there's any way you'll get WPVI viewers to switch from their 70s era news theme any more than you'll get WPVI to get a new logo. If it weren't for the NBC/CBS switch, new networks (FOX/WB/UPN/CW) Philadelphia would be stuck in the 70s forever. Believe me, I left 1981 and went back 2003 and except for the aforementioned changes it was just the same. Especially with WMMR & WYSP playing the same songs. LOL ;-)

Replace with the WPLG/WEWS theme of the late 80s, or even the most venerable CHL/Tar Sequence/NS2K.

This song IS Philly and no need to run from it or change it.
