@lockupchick one count of burglary. I was homeless sleeping in other people's cars. I took a CD walkman out of one, and gave it to the police because I felt guilty and terrible about it. I was placed on probation and told that if I refused to go home to live with my parents that beat me, I would be locked up. I refused. They locked me up.

@NYanarchy08 None whatsoever. Murderous sociopaths have no place walking our streets, and I don't care how old they are. There is an extensive process to evaluate whether or not they know right from wrong, and what kind of criminal history they have... if they have been given multiple opportunities (probation and diversion programs) before being sent to prison, or they commit a crime that is so heinous, they need to go away for, in some case, life without parole.

@SugarSigur One petty charge? I seriously doubt that. If so, you are not in California. It is impossible to go to Division of Juvenile Justice, (Formerly known as California Youth Authority) or get sentenced as an adult for "one petty charge." You only get there by committing a major felony. Almost every inmate or ward tries to minimize their crimes and their daily behaviors. Why don't you say what you were incarcerated for? Hmmm?

@lockupchick I WAS one of those "children"...I got burned on one petty charge and ended up in one for two years, then two more of parole...and to this day I can't get a job...even though my records were "sealed"/ It ruined my life and I didn't know anything about lying, cheating, and stealing until I was there. I was beat, drugged, and abused daily in that fucking place. Maybe you should be a little more understanding or get a new job.

@lockupchick This is really how it is. I don't care what you say. I'm sure all the violence and such really does go on there. This is a look in a funny way to show what really does occur in the prisons. Of course they did the crime, so they must do the time. I get this. But, just don't send kids under a certain age to an adult prison. If they are just to violent to be in the juvenile system, then y hasn't anyone gotten these children mental and emotional support?

I'm highly amused and horrified at the same time.
I work with these so-called "children." NONE of them are convicted of "being in the wrong place at the wrong time." They have been convicted of serious crimes and have been found unfit to be tried as juveniles. They are violent, assaultive and heavily entrenched in gangs.
