Just since noon that day, things had begun to go haywire. Gas stations were packed beyond capacity that day, and traffic was crazy all over the area in anticipation of spiking gas prices. Some stations did spike, with a few stations attempting to raise prices above $5 a gallon. Incredibly heavy rain was on the docket for the weekend, with some forecasts putting us under upwards of 6 inches! Features the 2005 Storm Alert Theme version.

You either got rain or got 80+mph gusts. East of Ike's rain shield got the winds. I had no power for a week. Gas stations were empty and stores were jammed pack...

By the time it got to the midwest though it should have just been some rain. I know when it went through Arkansas it lost TD status. Ike was the first hurricane to directly hit me and it was pretty incredible to have 90+mph winds constantly for hours on end just 2 months after buying my first house.

@kain279 its because Hurricane Ike's remnants went up to the midwest also so it wasn't just the Texas area which was affected by this Hurricane.

Why is the radar showing the upper midwest if this is supposed to be about Ike?

Wow glad I found this clip. I live pretty close to where Ike hit, and in the town I live in, "things had begun to go haywire", is an understatement ;) it was crazy. Thanks for putting this up
