Major David E. Sutherland, USAF Retired, in a conversation about experiences in Southeast Asia in 1968, discusses movement from Mactan to Clark AFB in the Philippines. C-130 crews rotated into Vietnam for 16 day intervals, then to the Philippines in between. When his group was moved, the billets were inadequate. Sutherland had it out with his Colonel. Sutherland's reputation for standing up for his men is a hallmark. You can see in his eyes the deep-seated dedication to his men.
