I discovered Mr. Tyrell from my friends mother who lived in this musical era. I'm in my early thirties and I have to say Mr. Tyrell just exudes and epitomizes something that I finally realize this current generation doesn't quite understand: Class, style, poise, and stage presence. He is quite accomplished as well! Comparing him with Buble is like apples to oranges. I love Buble but he is only an artist. To reinvent his career AGAIN and bring this music to an new audience like myself is a feat!
After hearing him so much on 1260 am Beverly Hills, I started to get it. Here's a "funky", blues voice doing smooth standards, and great new charts, with top musicians. The musicality is great. The voice is different, and more digestable than I first thought. I heard him interviewed, and I realized
ther's a lot more to him than I knew. Song writer, producer, and singer. Another plus for Steve, his grass roots voice will draw a new audience.
I love Sinatra...but I don't get the Steve Tyrell thing at all. As far as crooners go, Buble is much better. I think I can sing as well as Steve Tyrell. Something about his voice does NOT convey the class or sophistication that so many of the Sinatra songs have. Sinatra is wine. Tyrell is beer.
If Steve concerts in your area try to see him live! He is so warm, wonderful, friendly, handsome, smiling all the while, audience interactive etc. and he sings his jazz with a verve that is nearly a lost art. Can you tell that I love him dearly? So will you if you see him perform.
