The R1 tank engine was only produced in a 2-rail version, and doesn't really take too readily to 3-rail conversion, there's little room for the pickups and the springs from the pickups further reduce an already limited haulage capacity. However, I have a train of TRIX private owner coal wagons, produced from 1964 or 65 until the 1970's. These were very attractive wagons, extremely light and free running, and, as you can see, even the Dublo R1 can pull a train load of them! Speed is deliberately low, this sort of train would never have set any speed records!

  • 20 to be exact! These Trix wagons were very free running, also very light, so even the Dublo R1 could manage a lot of them.
