The Lower 9th Ward, devastated by Hurricane Katrina, has an eerie, empty feeling, where weeds have taken over square blocks, and the sounds of bugs and wind dominate. (Aug. 26)

  • @iamsug3r - Just got a confirmation about Pitt's paltry efforts--an insane plan that has provided 30 homes in total, Many stand alone, their closest neighbor a block away. Eclipsing their Architectural Digest -certified 'green' design, is that endlessly foreboding concrete levee the ends of which are not remotely 'sealed' somewhere just up stream...

  • @ChezKiva Not sure where I EVER discussed Bradd Pitt. I would be pretty pissed too knowing tents were a block away and I was sleeping in the cold. I don't think I ever defended any media starlet's efforts, they suck just about as hard as the government did.

  • @gunzt3rkenfu92 When earthquake, tsunami, or volcano's destroy an area, I think it's prudent to start thinking about rebuilding somewhere else. I'm not grandstanding on anyone's "efforts". I think the mess folks were left in down there was disgraceful. However, first earthquake that smashes my house (right on the hayward fault line), I'll reconsider where I'm living. (just an opinion.)

  • Hurricane Katrina misery belongs to mayor Clarence RAY NAGin (b. 6/11/56). NBA basketball player Grant Henry Hill’s maternal grandma, Vivian McDonald (433-92-9326), came through the storm just fine. Hill played college ball in DurHAM, NC, from where WTVD TV (ABC ch. 11) sent New Orleans-native reporter Katina Rankin to cover the aftermath. Unrelated: KATrINA Floyd at 5300 Via Dolores, Newbury Park, CA or another at 525 Pee Dee Church Rd, Dillon, SC; watch?v=7pkiaXc0gfo or watch?v=YsJyfJ0b-WA

  • Hurricane Katrina misery belongs to mayor C. RAY NAGin (b. 6/11/56). NBA player Grant Henry Hill’s maternal grandma, Vivian McDonald (433-92-9326), came through the storm just fine. Hill played college ball in DurHAM, NC, from where WTVD TV (ABC ch. 11) sent Crescent City-native reporter Katina Rankin to cover the storm. Unrelated: KATRINA Floyd at 5386 CATina Arch, VA Beach, VA; Hill’s 1990s TV ads for McDonald’s Arch Deluxe; McDonald's #2973 on Sunset in 27801 near intersection with Crescent

  • It’s said Hurricane KATrINA punished mostly along socioeconomic lines. NBA basketball player Grant Henry Hill assured readers on his website that his maternal grandma, Vivian McDonald (433-92-9326), came through the storm just fine. Hill played college ball in DurHAM, NC, from where WTVD TV (ABC ch. 11) sent reporter Katina Rankin to New Orleans to cover the disaster, since she was a native. Unrelated: KATRINA Floyd at 5386 CATina Arch, VA Beach, VA; Hill’s ’90s TV ads for McDonald’s Arch Deluxe

  • It’s been said the extent of grief felt from Hurricane KATrINA tracked along socioeconomic lines with losses in the improverished Lower Ninth Ward being the example for maximum misery. NBA basketball player Grant Henry Hill assured readers on his website that his maternal grandma, Vivian McDonald (433-92-9326), came through the storm just fine. Hill played college ball in DurHAM, NC, from where WTVD TV (ABC VHF ch. 11) sent reporter Katina Rankin to New Orleans to report, since she was a native

  • @iamsug3r - Brad Pitt's 'make it right foundation' was grandstanding to the tune of four million dollars. some were not impressed. others were pissed to learn that the 50 pink tents were never intended to provide relief for anyone left homeless, in fact, they were guarded night and day and only illuminated for a week to make a big media splash.

  • @gunzt3rkenfu92 - finally, it's good to know someone else who really gets the big picture.

  • I live on the west coast, and we have not yet to experience such massive destruction or loss of life. If you live below sea level next to the ocean, seems a sad effort. rebuild your life, only to have it shattered again next season. =/
