what do you all expect we muslim to do after conquering other nation...detroy all their knowledge, books and manuscript? no, we copy it and elaborate it and developed more intresting technology and not destroying it like the monggols or other barbarian. you should be thakfull that we didn't destroy all this knowledge.

I don't know if anybody cares, but it seems like everyone here either thinks that Muslims are subhumans incapable of original thought, or that they're solely responsible for modern civilization. They're people, just like every other civilization on Earth. Every society has had its highs and lows: when Rome dominated the Mediterranean, the Arabs were just scattered tribals, but a thousand years later, they were in a golden age. And they had their good points and faults just like everyone else.

@dave5785568 When I learned about this time period in school, it was almost exclusively about Europe, not China or Arabia. This is where the credit is lacking.

Modern age is another topic entirely.

@somethingcowey Actually the Arabs merely appropriated the knowledge and skills of the advanced civilisations they had conquered. ALL the contributions to mathematics and science came from those peoples DESPITE Islam and NONE from Arabia itself. Interesting how Islamist are so quick to claim as their own the accomplishments of those civilisations but are only too quick to claim as 'culturally specific' the grizzly 1,400 year long slave trade, backwardness and destitution of Islamic Africa.

@nazmul786 Hahaha. The Muslim 'Golden Age' was the brief period when the Arab bandits appropriated the huge repositories of knowledge and skills of the people they had conquered. NOT ONE scientific or mathematical idea came from Arabia, the home of Islam. We know why it all came to an end. Scientific ideas have nothing in common with the absurd fables and delusions of superstitious nomadic warlords. Most of the so-called 'Muslim' thinkers actually loathed Islam and its ignorant Imams.
