Tim Campbell persuades his friend Matt Kepple to become a blood donor for the first time. They both chat to Anne about the importance of giving blood.

Anne, suffers from the painful blood disorder Sickle Cell Anaemia. While she was pregnant with her first child Anne had to undergo a blood transfusion.
Thanks to regular blood donors the West Londoner of African background was able to give birth to a healthy baby Thanks to blood donations I have the gift of life

Specific blood groups are more common amongst people from the African, Caribbean and South Asian communities and certain medical conditions requiring regular blood transfusions also have higher prevalence within these communities including Sickle cell Anemia (African/Caribbean) and Thalassaemia Major (South Asian).

The VIP Appeal is a campaign by the National Blood Service (NBS) targeting South Asian, Black African and Black Caribbean communities to give blood and help meet the need for rare blood types within ethnic minority communities
