This is not a mass appeal type of voice. It is a good solid tenor voice. one you won't mind listening to. I dont think you will forget the others like Gedda, Krause. and the like, but you will be satisfied.
He is not Luciano Pavarotti.Carlo Bergzoni or any other tenor .he is Joseph Calleja with a great tenor voice, please just enjoy his singing. If you look too deply at the ins and outs of his style/technique you lose the quality,CHILL
I just want to say this correctly: technical problems & flatness are scientifically verifiable facts and are NOT a matter of personal opinion, & Callejas does, beyond all arguing & matters of taste, sing with scientifically verifiable flatness.
This is not a personal attack & I'm sure he & you are both good people, I just hate it when people describe black & white facts as if they're interpretive. Happy Holidays to you as well.
It is all a matter of personal opinion and personal taste. That is what I love about the internet and especially, YouTube, it gives you access to a vast amount of musical material and you can hear examples of legendary singer and up and coming singers. We all have our likes and dislikes and to me Joseph Calleja gives a good performance as an Operatic tenor to you he sings flat and has technical problems .One man's trash is another's treasure. We can agree to disagree. Happy Holidays to you.
I believe that you love "the voice andd his technique". That's a personal opinion & has nothing to do with me. "Brilliant" & "gorgeous" are adjectives that depend entirely on personal taste, and I personally do not like Callejas' sound. Adjectives like "flat" & "fluttery" are not personal opinions, as Callejas sings flat and has a flutter. His success doesn't matter to me, Britney Spears has much more money and fame, and that says nothing about her singing ability.
@jaketaz Joseph Calleja has a great sound and is one of the most successful and sought after Tenors on the scene today. All singers have their peculiarities, eccentricities and all voices have their flaws, the brilliant singers learn how to disguise them, Mr. Calleja emits a brilliant and gorgeous sound, if he can last rmains to be seen but of what I hear of him I am loving the voice andd his technique.

I used Britney Spears because she is very popular and a bad singer. Success and popularity are a measure of mass appeal, not of ability.

@jaketaz Comparing joseph Calleja with Britney Spears is (in Maltese) nthallat il-hass mal-bass. Try and find a translator for this saying.

Bravo - closest thing I've heard to Pavarotti in quite a while.

instead of criticising so much about this thing and the other why don't you just enjoy?
