  • wish you could have contacted me sooner - I could have taken you to see the lake, which is beautiful.

  • I really do as well, but I use the reference in respect to the old breeders. Once known simply as the cur dog. They are still one in the same.

  • Man, my catahoula would LOVE to heard something. Anything. He's small though. I rescued him and he was either the runt of his litter or is mixed with a blue heeler. He only weighs 30 - 35 pounds. He looks JUST like a catahoula, but I know they range from 50 to 90 lbs... He's like... A miniature catahoula. :3

  • He probably would, they love to work! Even the 1/2 breeds. ha! And remember - Dynamite comes if small packages.

    Good Luck with your dog.

  • Tuska means pain and homma means work. With no disrespect!

    Fine breed, great work.

  • No disrespect taken, but fo our tribe, it does mean red fighter or warrior. My husband is a proud member of the Jena Band of Choctaws, unlike many of today, he did not have to learn to speak his native language, but had to learn to speak english. Although many of their words have the same meaning as other Choctaw tribes, their version is different, therefore the different meaning for us.

But you know they are very tough and are able to work with pain, so that would apply too!

  • aww.. beautiful dogs. my 'houla, Shiloh, is a rescue from animal control. She was siezed from a puppy mill. Due to irresponsible breeding, she has a lot of white on her and she is deaf, but she is allllllll catahoula! Makes me feel good that there are still responsible breeders out there breeding the dog to actually work and not look pretty and be a house pet. Shiloh is only 8 months old now but once she gets older and I have her hand signs down, I just may ler her try her paw at herding.

  • Hello

You have BadAss catahoula’s I just drove through Jena Louisiana with my catahoula Sassy I wish she could have met your pack, the only hog she ever seen has two wheels, I got her from a breeder here in California she is 2 years now, had to take her back to see her roots, and I have a friend in Crosby Miss he has 2 catahoula’s

  • They are so adorable. I have a mix that looks eerily like a Catahoula, but she's Aussie and Choc Lab. Seems like a great breed, though.

  • I prefer the term "Catahoula Leopard Dog" to "Catahoula Cur", only because of the negative implications of the word cur. They're awesome dogs, though.

  • Ha! You're telling me. That boy can run.

It's so hot in Texas right now though it's hard to take him out.

We both get so hot that we have to leave before we're ready.

He goes crazy if he doesn't get enough exercise. O.O
