Texas Diving Disaster

In 2004 me and my teammate had a pretty traumatic mishap. This was the first time I tried to compete a 107b (forward 3.5 somersaults pike) in a meet. The force of the impact knocked me out and my teammate pulled me out onto the pool deck. I was in the hospital for a few days vomiting blood, and waiting for someone to look at xrays of my neck. The second diver had a concussion, but didn't stay in the hospital overnight. I competed platform diving for two more years after this and got much better at it. Divers take smacks like that all the time on their way to becoming the olympians you see on TV. oh, and that song is "Thickfreakness" by The Black Keys, a kick ass blues band.

I remember when this happened. it was like the shot heard 'round the world. Everyone was in mourning. Kids in schools were glued to the television. The streets were deserted. Days like this one are burned into our memories forever.
