No it's not. Socialism is human nature and would be very good for society. Most likely, you don't understand what socialism is. Most likely the countries you think are examples of socialism are the furthest thing from it.

Or you could work 4, 6 hour days. You don't have to work a 40 hour week if that's what you'd rather advocate.

You don't even understand what socialism is. Socialism is commonly owned, meaning no concentration of power within the workers. You're trying to say that countries with high concentrations of power in the economy are socialist.
That means you're an idiot. Read a book because you're ignorant.

Umm... no. Socialism is "an economic system characterized by social ownership, control of the means of production through cooperative management of the economy.
Britannica ACADEMIC EDITION
I work for a an electrical company that's part of a worker cooperative and we give a larger percentage of our profits to charity and public programs than any private company I've ever heard about.

It hasn't been tried. Your examples of socialism: Soviet Russia, North Korea, China, Cuba... am I right? Please tell me what date the workers in these countries had control over anything, let alone the means of production?
Successful socialist leaning societies: Mondragon Corporation in Spain, the Kibbutz in Israel, the 1000's of cooperatively owned businesses in the US (one of which I belong to), the Commons (feudal times), indigenous tribes.
Talk to anthropologist. Socialism is human nature.

If people went through all the work to take control of the means of production, why would people just top working after they achieved this accomplishment? That's the most asinine thing I've ever heard. The incentive in a socialist society is that working is beneficial both to yourself and the people around you. Profits would go into public programs.
People work in capitalist economies... The incentive: barely get by while fat greedy bastards get rich off the money YOU make them.

When the US economic system was leaning more towards socialist type economic policies from 1950 to 1973, the "Golden Age", unemployment was the lowest it had ever been in history.
The US is the only industrialized country without some kind of nationalized/socialist healthcare system and it's worst in the industrialized word, and the most expensive in the entire world.
People still have to work in a socialist economy you moron. The difference is the workers own the economy instead of CEOs.

You're the kind of person who thinks that elderly people should have to work till they die and disabled people who don't have the physical ability to work should just starve to death.
